How To Choose A Durable Shutter In Destin

August 08, 2016

One of our stores in Texas was recently reached by a previous client. The customer had lost their home to a tornado earlier this year, but their Sunburst Polywood® plantation shutters held out.

The client’s house had to be completely rebuilt due to damage, but there were only a couple of slats broken on one shutter panel on one area of their residence. No other shutter was damaged at all! The clients are in the process of rebuilding their home, and before long, the Sunburst store in Texas will reinstall the original shutters in their newly rebuilt house.

Most likely, your shutters won’t be subject to a twister. But there are a few qualities to look for when choosing shutters in Destin that are durable and will beautify your home for a lifetime.

*Disclaimer: Sunburst Shutters doesn’t guarantee that their our products will withstand a tornado or other natural disasters, but this is just one example of the durability and resilience of our Polywood shutters. Refer to our lifetime warranty.

Strong Material

Hardwood plantation shutters in a Destin home office

The most important quality to be sure of when you need a resilient window treatment is exactly what material it’s made from. For wood shutters, look for ones built from hardwood that is known for being both solid and lightweight. Our Ovation® shutters are made from high-grade basswood and teak, which both have these qualities.

For engineered shutters, focus on a product constructed from a solid polymer like our Polywood® shutters. These shutters are sturdier than composite shutters, whose weaker composition can more easily cause damage and peeling. The material Polywood shutters are composed of is also resistant to moisture, fire, and termites.

Top-Notch Construction

A shutter’s build is an important piece of its resilience. Polywood shutters use tension control pins that prevent the louvers from becoming loose. They also have stainless steel staples covered in epoxy which are very difficult to take out. Polywood’s core is solid, and its joints are fortified and glued for unrivaled toughness. Our Ovation shutters are the only five star wood shutter in the world and include two varieties of joints: mortise-and-tenon and dowel, which adds sturdiness. We are the sole place which makes shutters constructed with extreme durability in mind.

Sunburst Shutters makes it a priority to take special consideration in the measuring, manufacturing, and installation processes to make sure you get beautiful custom shutters that fit your windows perfectly.

Color Which Lasts

It’s normal to want shutters that will look brand-new several years after you buy them. Some composite shutters may discolor or fade over the years. Our Polywood shutters are encased with a unique paint that utilizes UV-inhibitors which keeps your shutters looking brand-new. In addition, a quick wipe down with a dustrag is all you need to keep your plantation shutters clean.

Lifetime Warranty

Warranties are one more major detail when selecting shutters or other window coverings. When choosing a high-quality shutter, you need a warranty to protect your investment. Our Polywood shutters include a lifetime warranty against any imperfections that might occur in materials, workmanship, paint finish, or installation. Sunburst’s Ovation shutters include a warranty which protects you from any manufacturer imperfections.
